How to Gain Genuine Followers on Social Media
As your Melbourne, Florida social media optimization team, we are constantly seeking ways to keep your brand engaged with your customers. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter enable engagement, but is your company getting the most out of its social media interactions? In his Social Media Today column “15 Ways to Win Fans and Influence Followers,” Matthew Kobach piggybacks on the content of the popular Dale Carnegie book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” applying the advice to social media connections. Here are a few of the tips we found most helpful:
- Don’t criticize, condemn, or complain. Your company’s social media presence should never breed negativity. Speaking ill of your competition or anyone may result in losing followers instead of gaining them.
- Become genuinely interested in other people. Instead of trying to get people interested in you, become interested in them. People tend to like people that like them. Find people talking about your business’ area of interest and join the conversation.
- If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically. Everyone makes mistakes, and that includes businesses. What will make your business stand out is its ability to own up to its mistakes. Admitting your wrongdoings, and apologizing will make for a quicker comeback than attempting to sweep it under the rug.
- Dramatize your ideas. Use showmanship to make your post sound bold or important. But don’t lie. Just make your headlines something you would click to read yourself.
